Our Meals

Menus are planned and prepared under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). All meals provide a minimum of one-third of the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) and meet the most current USDA’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans. In general, our meals are whole food based, nutrient dense and provide an array of nutrients and phytochemicals to promote optimum health.

MEDICALLY TAILORED MEALS (MTM)

We also provide the following MTM to meet the needs of almost any medical condition: General Health, General Health Soft, General Health Puree, Digestive-Friendly, Digestive-Friendly Soft, Digestive-Friendly Puree, Renal-Friendly, Renal-Friendly Soft, and Renal-Friendly Puree.

CHOICE MEAL PROGRAM

Beef or Chicken? We offer eligible clients a choice in their noon time meal. Providing choice offers personalization, giving clients more control over their delivered meal thereby promoting dignity and independence.

Do our meals help?

To ensure our meals have a positive impact on our clients, our Nutrition, Health, and Impact Department oversees the use of the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA), a validated nutrition screening instrument, which allows us to determine whether or not our meal program improves the malnourished state of those we serve. We also use this data when reporting program outcomes to funders.

After enrollment in our meal program, 80% of clients age 65+ demonstrate an improvement in nutrition status.

Nutrition Education & Consultation

We strive to stay current on nutrition research pertaining to the aging population, with special emphasis on Home Delivered Meal participants. As experts in Medical Nutrition Therapy, we are instrumental in counseling and educating clients in chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and acid reflux.

A MOWCTX Allergen Guide is available to clients upon special request which shares important information identifying which food items contain one or more of the top 8 allergens (eggs, fish, shellfish, milk, peanuts, treenuts, soy, and wheat) in addition to gluten. This serves as a valuable resource to help clients navigate our menu if they are trying to avoid certain ingredients.
