CAPABLE

An Age in Place Intervention for Central Texas older adults made possible through the generous support of the St. David’s Foundation. Developed at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, the CAPABLE (Community Aging in Place, Advancing Better Living for Elders) program uses evidence-based methods to improve physical function and depressive symptoms while reducing hospitalizations to help homebound older adults safely age in place.

Malnutrition

Meals on Wheels Central Texas continuously measures the prevalence of malnutrition in our older adult population and the impact our medically-tailored meals have on clients served. This research was made possible by the Family and Consumer Sciences Nutrition Department at Texas State University and The University of Texas at San Antonio’s Nutrition and Dietetics Department.

DEPRESSION TREATMENT AND FALL PREVENTION

Learn more about our partnership with the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. Our Telehealth Treatment for Depression research project, led by Dr. Namkee Choi, was funded by a 5-year grant from The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (2R01MD009675; Principal Investigator, Dr. Namkee G.
